The Frank Donohoe Collection

About the Frank Donahoe Collection. Frank Donahoe was a member of the Canadian contingent to the Third World Jamboree at Arrowe Park in 1929. Kevin Snair, a commercial photographer in Canada, writes:

"I was in a used book store and came across an old, limited edition bound report about the Canadians at the 1929 World Jamboree. In it was a list of each person who attended from here. Curiosity got the better of me, so I started tracking them down through the phone book. I was able to locate and speak to three of them. What stories! One of the gentlemen (Frank Donahoe) was so thrilled that someone was interested that he gave me his entire photo album from the trip. Most of it consisted of postcards from the places they toured while in England, but there were also a number of great photographs, one of which I am including in this letter. I will also send you two postcards and two other photos which were purchased at the Jamboree by him…."

"… I don’t know Frank’s age for sure but he was approximately 15 when he went to the Jamboree which would make him in his early 80s. He specifically remembers the tons of mud. He told me how he woke up one evening to hear footsteps outside his tent. when he looked out, there was BP himself quietly stroling the grounds. What an image!!"

The photographs in this collection are from Frank Donohoe’s photo album of his Jamboree trip in 1929. The originals include both photographs and post cards. For more stories and photographs of Canadian Scouting history, be sure to visit Kevin Snair’s home page, Scouting with Staves and Stetsons.
