Baden-Powell visited Austria in 1931 to attend the Sixth International Scout Leader Conference (6. Internationalen Pfadfinderführerkonferenz) held near Vienna at Baden bei Wein.  While attending the Conference, Baden-Powell was honored by the Austrian government with the Grand-Cross of the Order of Merit, Austria's highest decoration for public service.  A unique collection of photos of the ceremonies, and of the Ribbon, Medal and Cross are presented courtesy of Herbert Balka, Chief of the Austrian Scouting Museum.
